A green dome tent pitched tight on stony Karoo ground in the late afternoon sun, its orange guy ropes pegged down.

Brenton invites you to

Hammer the Pegs

The Karoo Long Weekend. The tent’s up. The pegs aren’t in.

Six pegs, hard ground. Whack each one in to pitch the tent.

  1. Peg one · When Fri 9 – Sun 11 April 2027 Two nights. Warm days, properly cold nights. Autumn in the Karoo.
  2. Peg two · Where Karoo National Park, Beaufort West The rest camp campsite, under the Nuweveld mountains. Five hours up the N1 from Cape Town.
  3. Peg three · Arrive From 14:00 SAST on Friday Pitch before the light goes. You’ll want to see your pegs.
  4. Peg four · Bring Tent, rock pegs & a mallet This ground eats skinny pegs. Plus a chair, a cooler and a warm sleeping bag.
  5. Peg five · Wear Layers & closed shoes Shorts by day, a beanie by night. Mind the thorns.
  6. Peg six · The fine print Brenton brings the braai. You bring the mallet. Last tent up does the dishes. No exceptions, no excuses, no “the ground was hard”.

Not going anywhere. Neither are you.
